Before reaching college I only know two kinds of women in the society,
the straight females and the lesbians. This perspective about women changed
when I reached college. In college I have discovered three types of women;
there are the straight, the pirm and the lesbians.
First are the straight ones, they are very common. They are seen everywhere
in the school and they are not new to me because I am one of them. They can be
identified easily because this kind of a woman wears lady-like clothes. They
are usually conscious of their physical appearance. They wanted to look
beautiful and presentable especially when cute boys are around. They are often
insecure of other girls and it is very rare that they would appreciate one
another.
Second are the pirms, they are very
similar to the straight females except that they are not only attracted to
males but also to their own kind. They have a strong attraction towards another
female but they do not act in a manner considered boyish. Also, they do not
wear men’s clothes; they wear clothes in a way they would look like a straight
female. They are not explicit about their identity; they hide themselves from
the society.
Lastly are the lesbians, they are the females who are also attracted to
their own kind like the pirms except that they are showy about who they are. They
wear men’s clothes and acts manly. They think of themselves as male human
beings. Most of the time they posses short hair like a man. They are also
called homosexuals.
The society is very fastidious when it comes to gender issues. If only
the society would be more open about gender issues there would be more people
who would reveal their real gender preference. Most of the time those people
who hide themselves are afraid to be judge by the society.
